Condolences to Cheryl Brundy Stanford

I regret that I did not learn of this news until just recently...condolences to our classmate Cheryl Brundy Stanford (and to her brother Joe from the Class of '75) on the passing of her younger brother, Jeff Brundy.

Jeffrey W. Brundy Sr.

Jeffrey Wayne Brundy, Sr., 48, of Leavenworth, took flight to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Kansas City Hospice House after succumbing to a 22 month journey with Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cancer.

He was born June 26, 1961, in Leavenworth, the son of Msg. US Army (Ret) Joseph and Dorothy (Bradford) Brundy, Jr. Jeffrey was an exceptional student and athlete at Leavenworth High School. He shattered the single season assist record with 110 assists on the varsity basketball team. After graduating in 1979, Jeffrey went on to attend Kansas City Kansas Community College on a basketball scholarship. He later graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

He pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by establishing Intimately Yours Boutique, located in downtown Leavenworth. He spent well over a decade in the telecommunications industry working with Sprint PCS, until his health failed.

Jeffrey was a God fearing man, who enjoyed spending time with family, talking on his cell phone, sports, traveling, and inspiring others in a positive light. He also loved coaching basketball and mentoring youth.

He was united in marriage to Danna Hildebrandt in 1980. Later he was united in marriage to Patreece Morris.

Jeffrey is survived by his devoted mother, Dorothy Brundy of Leavenworth; two sons, Jeffrey W. Brundy, Jr., of Fayetteville, N.C. and Samuel J. Brundy of Leavenworth; his five sisters, Pat (Lindley) Brooks of Centennial, Colo., Joan (Lloyd) Coubarous of Arlington, Texas, Rebecca Brundy-Young of Tacoma, Wash., Michele McRoy of Leavenworth, and Cheryl Brundy-Sanford of Leavenworth; his three brothers, Donald (Pat) Hatcher of Detroit, Mich., Michael (NaOra Horton) of Mansfield, Texas and Sgt Maj. U.S. Army (Ret) Joseph (Roselind) W. Brundy III of Chester, Va.; nine nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; one great-niece; his aunt Gerilyn (Michael) Coubarous of Arlington, Texas; his uncle William “Billy” Davis of Leavenworth; his granddaughter, Keiyanna Brundy of Leavenworth; two brothers in-law Scott Sanford of Leavenworth and Fred McCleary of Spanaway, Wash.; several cousins; and a large extended family and special friends.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Independent Baptist Church. At Jeffrey’s request the casket will be closed. R.L. Leintz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to an educational fund.
