School Story:

50 Years of Wrestling Excellence
Not many schools can boast of a half century of a sport program, but recently, Leavenworth High School did so. The school celebrates 50 years of wrestling excellence this season! At the first home tournament, the Nineteenth Annual Leavenworth Challenger Tournament, former coaches, team members, and fans - along with today's followers - enjoyed camaraderie and friendship at a celebration luncheon. The Leavenworth High School wrestling program began in 1957 as a way to give football players additional off-season conditioning. The first coach was George Bistline. The program has only gotten stronger and more successful and has produced many wrestlers who have garnered team and individual championship titles, as well as gone on to wrestle at the college level. The program has instilled hard work, ethics, confidence, and mental toughness in many young men. These skills serve them well in their life after high school. Today, we are proud to continue to tradition of wrestling excellence!
